Year 5
At exactly 5:01 p.m., the last child leaves the school. The door clicks shut. For a moment, everything is silent. Then the school wakes up.
The whiteboards suddenly open their eyes. In an instant, everything in the building wakes up. Books begin arguing. Believe me, it was a very big mess.
Then the door opened. A man dressed in black appeared. He opened the Wonder Suitcase and took something. When he left, every single thing jumped out of its place.
“What did he take? Oh, Lord, help us!” said a pencil.
“Help! Help! Help!” shouted a toy car.
Then a little book, which had never been read, walked towards the suitcase. It realized that an eraser was missing.
The book turned towards the crowd of things.
“We have to find that eraser,” it said.
“Never! We have more erasers in the school,” said a naughty notebook.
“No thing in this school is useless,” argued the desk.
And the discussion went on for a while.
Then a pen, a chair, a brush, and the book escaped the building.
“What are they doing?” asked the bell.
“Isn’t it clear, Dingy? They are going on a rescue mission,” said an old lamp.
“This is the most weird thing I have ever done,” said the chair.
“Kinda true!” agreed the brush.
“OK. Let’s concentrate. Hmmm… Oh, look, the thief’s footprints!” said the book named Cookie.
“Yeah! Let’s follow them!” continued the pen.
After a long journey, they arrived at the thief’s house.
“OK. You, Pen, check under that desk. You, Brush, check on top of the desk. And you, Chair, look near the garbage,” said Cookie in a bossy way.
“Yes, Captain!” they all shouted.
Hours passed, but there was no sign of the eraser.
Then, finally, the brush shouted:
“Found it!”
“Help!” a tiny voice said.
The four objects jumped towards the voice.
“Thank you so much for coming after me,” said the eraser.
“Now let’s hurry back to the school before the children come,” added the eraser.
They went back to the school and never came out again.
The next day, everything was back to normal.
