Year 5
On an average day, I walked from school and a sign on a building caught my eye. It said: “Book Shop-now open”. I never saw it before. I entered the store, and strangely, it looked like a writer’s studio but it lacked in being clean. Multiple towering bookshelves, like pillars of the earth, covered the walls as neatly as silk.
I noticed that all the books were written in ancient languages which were as complicated as solving maths problems never solved before. These bookshelves were giving me an instinct as powerful as an army of tigers, that if i would read all the books, I would discover more mysteries than detectives would in a whole millennium.
I snatched a book and left. Nobody stopped me. When i looked above at the store sign, a new message magically appeared: “Feel free to take whatever you like”.
I left and only return once a year. The day I took the last book, the bookshop completely disappeared, like vapours of water into air.
All that was left was a small piece of paper on the ground. It said: “Now it’s your turn to write a story.”
And as I stood there holding the final book, I couldn’t help but wonder: had the mysterious bookshop vanished forever, or was it simply waiting for the next curious child to discover it?
This short story is imaginative, mysterious, and very engaging.
A great american educator once said:’ Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity’. This first step will ensure that your life will create a meaninful, positive impact on others. Your message about the power of reading and writing is thoughtful and inspiring.
Well done Toma.
