When my mum talks
And I don’t listen,
She always says that
She’s talking “to the walls”.
Now that gave me pause:
Do walls listen
People in prison?
The Berlin Wall…
What stories it lost
When it fell…
What did it tell?
The hospital walls…
Do they know what’s coming?
Or the wall of a shell
Does it hear the wave plunging?
The China wall… Does it speak with the trees
About why it is so tall?
Coming back to my house,
Do the walls hear my mum?
Maybe yes…maybe not,
But…isn’t this a wonderful thought?
