This week, our Year 6 students explored the fascinating world of digital stories during their Computing Age. To make their learning meaningful and creative, they connected this with their Age of Literacy, combining technology and poetry to show how words can truly shape who we are. The result is this beautiful article — written entirely by them — reflecting their hard work, imagination, and the magic of words.

Miss Andra Ciorba

Small words get bigger every day.
Even though we don’t always realise it, in time, words can change us — and make us better people.

This article presents our work during the Age of Literacy. We have studied the world of poetry and its secrets. While there were many poems and poets, Benjamin Zephaniah inspired us the most with “People Need People” and “Who Are We,” along with Katherine Rundell and her poem “Hope.”

Through all our special poems, each of us describes hope in unique ways.
Poems are magical and full of hope. Some lines are powerful, others emotional.
Hope is like a fire; it burns bigger or smaller. Everything can be better with hope!

Mihai’s poem shows that hope can be stronger than it seems, while Ilinca’s poem reminds us that hope never stops trying.
Small words can mean BIG things!
Our poems show that everything has hope — and nothing is lost.

Words can make people happy, or they can make someone sad.
As Shakespeare said in just four words, “Life is a stage.”

Through our poems, we discovered that one word can make a big difference.
Every word is important. Everyone is important.
Think about what words you will share today.
Use your words kindly — they can make a difference.
All words count! Let’s make them matter.

Our Poems

David Ciorba – Acrostic
Hope is when you want or wish something very much.
On the list it’s also when you wish good for someone, like:

Peter hopes that the girl in a blue dress named
Eve, has good luck at the maths test.

Mihai Fleşeriu – List Poem
Hope is like a fire, it burns bigger or smaller.
Hope is like a river, it never stops.
Hope is always the same, not smaller, not taller.
Hope is like a balloon that goes up but never stops.

Sofia Ciurca – List Poem
Hope is not something that you can buy.
Hope is a feeling that not everybody understands.
Hope is not something that you can reach just if you cry.
Hope is something that our brain always comprehends.

Edgar Marshall-Onu – Cinquain Poem
Hope
Relief, Serendipity
Believe, Relieve, Ease
There is nothing better
Positivity

Kira Liubchenko – Acrostic Poem
Hope is a human need in our life.
Overall, it’s all that we need.
People sometimes use it as a knife.
Everyone is afraid to bleed.

Elisa Necula – Acrostic Poem
Hope is when everything seems lost, a little light starts to shine in you.
Only people can encourage people, not animals!
People need respect, kindness, and courage.
Encouraging people means hope.

Ilinca Neagu – Acrostic Poem
Hope is courage and trust.
Overall, hope is very strong.
Pick your own path that connects with your own breath.
Everything can be better with hope!

Sofia Ciurca – “We Are the Same” (List Poem)
You’re never too old to learn.
You’re never too young to grow.
The caterpillar on the branch will transform.
The river near the forest will flow.
Our soul will never change,
It doesn’t matter our age.
Doesn’t matter if we’re old,
Doesn’t matter if we’re young,
Doesn’t matter if we’re tall or short,
We are still the same beautiful person.

David Alexa – Cinquain Poem
Hope
Beautiful, Amazing
Wishing, Shining, Dreaming
A bridge between feelings

Ştefan Bajdechi – Acrostic Poem
Hope is essential in our lives.
Once, a long time ago,
People believed in Gods.
Even now, some people HOPE for a better life.

Sonia Cernisov – List Poem
Hope is available for everyone.
Hope is to never give up.
Hope is to carry on.

Others need more and others less — the conclusion is:
People need other people.
Everything and everyone needs to be happy and have hope.

A Note from Us

Reading these poems reminded us once again of the power that words carry. Each child found their own way to express what hope means — not only in writing, but also through how they listened, shared, and encouraged one another during this project.

As teachers, we are so proud to see how their creativity and empathy come together. Words can indeed change the world — and our Year 6 students are learning to use them wisely.
